In 2019, she co-founded SAFE (Survivors of Familial Exploitation) to close the gap in available research and develop survivor-informed resources for direct service providers. She loves photography and spending her free time hiking the trails of New Castle County, DE with her three dogs and teenage daughter.

Presenters Bio: Lauren Garder is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a decade of experience in mental health and victim services. The focus of Lauren’s career has been chronic trauma and victimization. Lauren has worked at across the spectrum of services from hotlines to therapy to working in administration for the ODMHSAS overseeing trauma services and outpatient treatment for suicidality across the State. Lauren is now “back in the chair” in private practice in Oklahoma City providing therapy, expert witness, and consulting in her areas of expertise.

Workshop Description: This full-day immersive training is designed to equip professionals with the skills and knowledge to provide trauma-informed, compassionate care to people who have experienced human trafficking. Trauma-Informed Care: It’s Who You Are focuses on person-first approaches that honor each individual’s dignity and resilience, while also giving an opportunity to practice asking difficult questions in high stress situations. Trauma-informed care is more than a framework—it’s a way of being for those who serve survivors of human trafficking. Participants will engage in reflective exercises and experiential learning to deepen their connection to trauma-informed practices. She was the Public Relations Communications Chair for the National Survivor Network 2016-2019, and is the Executive Chair of the Arizona Survivor Leadership Council, a consultant for the Office of Victims of Crime Training and Technical Assistance Center, where she assists with program building and specialized training.

Jordan Greenbaum, MD is a child abuse physician who received her degree from Yale School of Medicine. She is the medical director of the Global Health and Well-being Initiative with the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children and the medical director of the Institute on Healthcare and Human Trafficking at the Stephanie Blank Center for Safe and Healthy Children at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. She co-chairs the Human Trafficking committee for the Ray Helfer Society, and the Education/Training committee for HEAL Trafficking, an organization of medical professionals working on human trafficking issues. Dr. Greenbaum has served on national committees and workgroups regarding human trafficking and has testified for Congressional committees. She co-authored a clinical report and a policy statement regarding child trafficking for the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Greenbaum provides local, national, and international training on child trafficking and exploitation.
