Who we are

Haruv USA is an international training institute that provides interprofessional education and training for professionals and students from a wide variety of settings in the field of child maltreatment. Haruv USA innovative programs equip professionals working with abused and neglected children with up-to-date theoretical and empirical knowledge to meet their needs. Haruv USA is an initiative of the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies. We are located at the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa in the Anne & Henry Zarrow School of Social Work.

Haruv USA is part of Haruv Institute in Jerusalem, which is an internationally renowned leader of research and trainings in the field of child abuse and neglect. Established by the Schusterman Foundation-Israel in 2007, The Haruv Institute’s mission is to promote knowledge about child maltreatment and to foster a community of professionals dedicated to the prevention, identification, and treatment of child abuse and neglect.

Haruv USA believes that providing excellent training for professionals helps to influence the quality of services that abused and neglected children receive. By developing and promoting education, Haruv USA strives to contribute to the fight against child abuse and neglect.

Tailor-Made Programs with Partnering Agencies

Haruv USA provides agencies from a wide variety of fields, who work with children and their families, the opportunity to engage in lectures and trainings about child neglect and maltreatment. These trainings are created in partnership with the organization or service, and each program is customized for their unique needs to give staff the specialized training on best practice interventions.

Workshops and Courses for General Professional Audiences

Haruv USA provides evidence-informed programs that are open to general professional audiences on various topics related to working with or treating abused and neglected children and their families. Haruv USA offers one-time lectures, lecture series, and/or long-term courses for participants, both in-person and virtual

Academic Activities

Haruv USA believes that education on child maltreatment begins with students. Accordingly, it offers students in all disciplines various training programs in a variety of academic institutions throughout Oklahoma. These could be basic or advanced courses on topics related to child maltreatment integrated into the academic curriculum, full training days or workshops, practice via simulations, or one-time lectures.
